Life with the LORD is an adventure! As a boy from Minnesota, I didn’t know that I would have to go to West Africa to find my wife, Carol, who happens to come from Belgium. Married now since 1992, we are still crazy in love with each other. We are blessed to be the parents of 3, in-laws of two, and G-Paw and Mumsie to two beautiful granddaughters.

I’m a graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato (BSc, International Business) and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (MDiv). I’ve also taken several doctoral courses and see the importance of on-going education and training.
Possessing a curious mind and a hunger for learning, I love to discover how God works in all of life and growing in my understanding of Him through His Word and through creation.

I’m an avid reader and am usually working through several books at a time. Some of my favorite authors would include John Piper, R. C. Sproul, and D. A. Carson. One thing I find fun is to peruse YouTube videos, listening to good messages and apologetic answers to questions about faith and the truth. In general, I’m drawn to most of those connected with Desiring God, The Gospel Coalition, and Ligonier Ministries.

Hobbies I enjoy include going on hikes with my wife, watching a good detective series, spending time in the garden, and watching just about any sporting event. My favorite sports teams (especially the Minnesota Vikings) have taught me a lot about patience, longsuffering, and dealing with disappointment.

I love what I am doing at EFC. As the Senior Pastor, I get to meld together my experiences as a missionary, seminary professor, baseball coach, campus evangelist, husband, father, and grandfather in teaching with passion the Word of God and calling God’s People to pursue Christ and find their true treasure in Him.

The Evangelical Free Church of Oroville is a Christ-centered, Bible-believing, evangelical church dedicated to glorifying God through faithful preaching, discipleship, and community outreach. We are a growing congregation committed to equipping believers and sharing the gospel with our community and beyond.

We are seeking an energetic and outgoing Associate Pastor to join our ministry team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for serving the local church, strong administrative skills, and a gift for connecting with people of all ages and stages of life. This role focuses on overseeing discipleship initiatives, welcoming and integrating new members, and leading ministries for young families, children, youth, and
young adults. Additionally, the Associate Pastor will spearhead evangelism and outreach efforts to extend the gospel into our community.
